Dear OptiMonk friends,
Today, we are writing about something unusual for our blog, but it’s more important now than anything else.
We were devastated to hear the news about the Amazon rainforest fires which have been burning for several weeks now.
The situation is so bad that the smoke is even visible from space in NASA pictures.
Every news channel and newspaper has been talking about this terrible situation, so we are sure that you know most facts, but we gathered together a few details that are important to know.
Between 1st January and 20th August, more than 74,000 fires have been recorded in the rainforest, according to the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), which used satellites to collect its research. It is an 84% increase from the same period in 2018.
In a 48-hour period, leading up to last Thursday, there were more than 2,500 active fires in the Brazilian rainforest, the BBC reported Friday.
People around the globe – including cities like São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, London, Geneva, Paris, Berlin, and Toronto – also took to the streets, blocked off roads and protested, demanding action to stop the fires.
It’s devastating for our team to see the fires in one of the world’s most important ecosystems.
We’ve been considering for a while to include planting trees in our process for a better world and a brighter future. The Amazon rainforest fires have made it clear for us that we need to act now.
That’s why we decided to help restore Amazon’s indispensable forest.
For starter, today we planted 100 trees in Amazon Rainforest on OneTreePlanted.org.
But our goal is to plant at least 10x more.
So if you like OptiMonk, and you’re also looking for a way to help the Amazon rainforest, this is your chance. All you need to do is to get our free app (if you don’t have it already) and leave a review to join our reforestation movement.
Act for the Amazon together and save the Earth!
