Mobile-Optimized Templates

Mobile-optimized Templates

All pre-built OptiMonk templates are 100% responsive and look great on all devices.

Mobile-Optimized Templates means that every pre-built template in OptiMonk's library is designed from the outset to be 100% responsive — displaying correctly on smartphones, tablets, and desktop screens without any manual mobile adjustment required when you select and launch a template. The template library covers all campaign types (popups, sticky bars, fullscreens, side messages, embedded content, and gamification) and all use cases (email capture, cart abandonment, discount delivery, product recommendations, surveys, and more) — and every template in every category is built on OptiMonk's responsive design system. This means the layout, font sizes, button dimensions, image proportions, and spacing all reflow correctly for mobile viewports automatically when a template is applied. For marketers who want to launch campaigns quickly without a design pass, a template selected and customized only in the desktop editor is already mobile-ready. For those who want to verify or refine the mobile experience, the editor's mobile preview mode and Hide Elements on Mobile setting provide additional control — but neither is a required step, because the responsive foundation handles the baseline correctly by default.

Key benefits

  • Launch mobile-ready campaigns without a separate mobile design step. Every template you select from OptiMonk's library already has a mobile layout. You customize the desktop version — update the headline, change the colors, swap the image, enter your offer — and the mobile version adapts automatically. There is no secondary pass through a mobile editor, no separate mobile template to maintain, and no risk of forgetting to optimize mobile before publishing. The responsive behavior is built in, not bolted on.
  • Consistent quality across a library of hundreds of templates. Mobile responsiveness is not applied selectively to featured or popular templates — it is a baseline requirement for every template in the library, across all campaign types and all use case categories. Whether you select a gamification spin-to-win template, a two-step email capture popup, a dynamic free shipping bar, or a product recommendation embedded block, the same mobile-responsive foundation applies. You can browse and select templates based on their use case and visual style without evaluating each one individually for mobile quality.
  • The starting point for further mobile customization, not a ceiling. Because templates are mobile-responsive by default, any additional mobile customization you apply — hiding elements that take up too much space on small screens, adjusting font size or padding specifically for mobile, or using a mobile-specific image — is an enhancement on top of an already correct baseline rather than a fix for a broken default. This means the time you spend on mobile customization is genuinely improving the experience rather than establishing its minimum viability.

How it works

Step 1
Browse the template library and select any template

In OptiMonk, click New campaign and browse the template library — filterable by campaign type, goal, theme, and seasonal relevance. Any template you see in the library is already mobile-optimized. Select the template that best fits your use case and visual preferences.

Step 2
Customize in the desktop editor as normal

Edit text, images, colors, form fields, buttons, and any other elements in the standard desktop editor view. As you make changes, OptiMonk's responsive design system automatically applies equivalent adjustments to the mobile layout — scaling typography, resizing buttons for touch targets, and reflowing multi-column layouts to a single-column mobile format where needed.

Step 3
Optionally verify in mobile preview before publishing

Click the mobile device icon in the editor toolbar to switch to mobile preview mode and confirm the auto-generated mobile layout meets your expectations. If everything looks correct — which it will for the vast majority of templates and customizations — proceed to publish. If you want to make mobile-specific adjustments (hiding an image, tweaking a font size), do so in mobile view without affecting the desktop layout, then publish.

Frequently asked questions

What does Mobile-optimized Templates mean in OptiMonk?+

It means that every pre-built template in OptiMonk's library is built on a responsive design foundation and displays correctly on mobile devices automatically — without requiring a separate mobile design pass. When you select a template and customize it in the desktop editor, the mobile layout is generated automatically using OptiMonk's responsive design system. All campaign types and all use case templates in the library meet this standard.

Do I need to do anything to make a template mobile-friendly before publishing?+

No. Mobile optimization is built into every template by default — selecting and customizing a template in the desktop editor produces a mobile-ready campaign without any additional steps. Switching to mobile preview before publishing is available as an optional verification step, but it is not required. If the auto-generated mobile layout looks correct in the preview (which it will for the vast majority of campaigns), you can publish directly from the desktop editor.

Can I adjust the mobile layout of a template if I want something different from the auto-generated version?+

Yes. While every template produces a correct and complete mobile layout automatically, OptiMonk's editor allows you to make mobile-specific adjustments on top of the responsive baseline. You can switch to mobile view in the editor and independently adjust font size, padding, element visibility, image selection, and button dimensions for mobile without affecting the desktop layout. The Hide Elements on Mobile setting lets you suppress specific elements — such as a large decorative image — from the mobile view entirely.

Are gamification templates (Spin to Win, Scratchcard) also mobile-optimized?+

Yes. All template types in the OptiMonk library — including gamification templates such as Spin to Win, Pick a Gift, and Scratchcard — are built on the same responsive design foundation and are mobile-optimized by default. The interactive game elements in these templates are touch-compatible on mobile, making them fully usable on smartphones without modification.

Does mobile-optimized mean the templates have been tested on real mobile devices?+

Mobile-optimized templates are built on OptiMonk's responsive design system, which is designed and tested to produce correct layouts across standard mobile viewport sizes and the major mobile browsers (Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android). The editor's mobile preview mode renders the campaign at mobile viewport dimensions for visual verification before publishing. For additional validation on specific devices, you can use Live Preview to open the campaign over your live site on any mobile browser and confirm the rendering in a real environment before going live.
