Smart Headline Generator

Smart Headline Generator

Have our AI-powered Smart Headline Generator come up with catchy headlines.

Smart Headline Generator is an AI-powered feature built directly into OptiMonk's campaign editor that generates catchy, conversion-focused headline alternatives for any text element in your popup or embedded campaign — with a single click, without leaving the editor. When you select a headline element and click "Generate suggestions" in the General tab of the settings panel, OptiMonk's AI analyzes your website content and meta description to produce five headline options in seconds — each crafted to grab attention and drive engagement, with attention paid to factors like length, tone, and appropriateness for the campaign's target audience. You can click any of the five suggestions to instantly replace your current headline text, and click "Revert text to original" at any time to restore what you had before — making the entire process risk-free and non-destructive. The generator works best when the text element already contains some initial content (even a rough draft) and when your website has a clear, descriptive meta description for the AI to draw context from.

Key benefits

  • Eliminate writer's block in seconds without leaving the editor. The headline is often the hardest part of a campaign to write — the one element that must immediately communicate value, create curiosity, and motivate action in under ten words. Smart Headline Generator replaces the blank-page problem with five ready-to-use options generated in seconds, directly inside the element settings panel. There is no separate tool to open, no prompt to write, and no text to copy and paste — the generation and application both happen within the normal editor workflow.
  • Generate variations specifically designed for conversion, not just creativity. The AI takes into account your website's content, the context of the campaign, and factors like headline length and style to ensure the generated options are appropriate for a popup or embedded campaign audience — not just grammatically correct or interesting in isolation. The output is calibrated to produce options that work as marketing headlines rather than generic content titles.
  • Create instant A/B test material from the same generation session. Each "Generate suggestions" click produces five distinct headline options. Rather than using just one, you can apply different suggestions to different A/B test variants of the same campaign — giving you ready-made, meaningfully different headline variants to test against each other without requiring a separate copywriting pass for each variant.

How it works

Step 1
Select the headline text element in the campaign editor

Open any campaign in OptiMonk's editor and click on the text element containing your headline. The settings panel on the right updates to show that element's configuration options.

Step 2
Click "Generate suggestions" in the General tab

With the text element selected, navigate to the General tab in the right-side settings panel. Click the "Generate suggestions" button — OptiMonk's AI will analyze your website content and the existing text in the element, then generate five headline alternatives within seconds. For best results, ensure the element contains at least a draft headline and that your website has a descriptive meta description.

Step 3
Select a suggestion or revert to your original

Review the five generated options displayed below the button. Click any suggestion to instantly apply it as the element's headline text — it replaces the current text immediately in the editor preview. If you want to try a different option, click another suggestion. If you decide none of the generated options suit you, click "Revert text to original" to restore whatever was in the element before you started. When satisfied, click Save & Exit to finalize.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Smart Headline Generator in OptiMonk?+

Smart Headline Generator is an AI feature built into the campaign editor that generates five alternative headline options for any text element in a popup or embedded campaign. It is accessed by selecting a text element in the editor and clicking "Generate suggestions" in the General tab of the settings panel. The AI analyzes your website content and meta description to produce headline options calibrated for attention-grabbing and engagement. Applying a suggestion or reverting to the original are both one-click actions.

How does the AI know what kind of headline to generate?+

The AI analyzes two primary inputs: the existing text content in the selected element (which provides context about the campaign's topic and current angle) and your website's meta description (which provides context about your business and offering). The more descriptive and accurate your website's meta description is, and the more relevant your initial draft headline is, the better the quality of the generated suggestions. If your site has sparse or generic content, the suggestions may be more generic as a result.

Can I use the generated headlines to create A/B test variants?+

Yes. Each generation session produces five distinct headline options. You can apply one to your current campaign variant and use others for separate A/B test variants — giving you meaningfully different headlines to test without additional copywriting effort. OptiMonk's within-campaign Variant A/B testing lets you set these up directly from the campaign settings after you have configured each variant's headline separately.

What happens to my original headline when I click a suggestion?+

The suggestion immediately replaces the current headline text in the editor. Your original headline is preserved and accessible via the "Revert text to original" button for as long as you remain in the current editing session. Clicking "Revert text to original" restores the headline to exactly what it was before you opened the suggestions — including any draft text you had written yourself. Once you save and exit the editor, the revert option for that session is no longer available.

Does Smart Headline Generator work for all text elements, or only main headlines?+

Smart Headline Generator is available for text elements in popup and embedded campaigns — it is most commonly used for main headlines and subheadings, but can be used on any text element where you want AI-generated copy alternatives. The relevance of the suggestions is highest for short, attention-focused text like headlines; for longer body text or form labels, the generator is less suited to the task. The feature is accessible on any text element via the General tab in the settings panel.
